Dan has always had a deep passion for the human body, more specifically what makes it fit, healthy, and efficient. What makes it “super well?” After being heavily involved in high school athletics, focusing his time on football and track, he had decided to deepen his knowledge of the human body.

Nursing had originally become his post secondary education program of choice. After a very successful 2 years in the program he decided that it was not for him, he was more interested in the preventative aspect of health care. To him, there are two very simple solutions to a majority of ailments that are sweeping western culture. Those two simple solutions are 1) nutrition and 2) exercise, in that order. This naturally led him to his next educational endeavor and that is Kinesiology – the scientific study of human movement, a perfect fit. Dan is a Kinesiology Movement Science Major and an avid CrossFitter running WCF and loving every minute of it.

Throughout this time Dan has been living his deep beliefs of health and fitness each and every day of his life. He has been training using ‘traditional’ methods for as long as he can remember (until he found CrossFit that is!). If he was not reading up on anything and everything that is nutrition and fitness related you would find him in the gym, on the field, on the track, on the court, and anywhere else fitness may be.

Then while running a very successful bootcamp program (using methodology similar to that of CrossFit without even knowing it!) he had to double the amount of classes he was instructing a week. He went online looking for different bootcamp ideas and there it was…CrossFit! In all its glory! Since that time he hasn’t looked back. Rigorously training day-in and day-out using strictly CrossFit methodology. It’s worth mentioning, he is easily in the best, most fit/athletic shape of his life. With goals of competing the CrossFit Games in a year’s time, he needs to be that and more. After switching his own training to CrossFit it only seemed logical to spread the magic that is CrossFit and began training a small group of his clients using CrossFit methods, their results are second to none. And here we are today.

If he could give anybody looking for advice on how to achieve superior health and fitness and how to live a life pain and disease free he would have one response (aside from recommending CrossFit): to LIVE YOUR FITNESS.

Having studied Psychology at the University of Windsor, I originally wanted a high status Human Resources career. However, it didn’t take me long to figure out that my true passion was long term health and well-being achieved through practical training and positive lifestyle choices. After working as a Recruitment Specialist with an HR Firm for over a year, I decided to shift gears and focus my energy towards a career in health and fitness as a coach at Windsor CrossFit.

I have always had a passion for athletics, having participated in many different sports throughout my life, including competitive soccer, tennis, and most recently, CrossFit.  As much as I enjoy competition and training, my true satisfaction comes from helping others achieve their goals in health and fitness.

Combined with proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, I strongly believe you can benefit from the varied strength and conditioning program that we offer.  No matter your age or ability level, I want to help you perform at your highest level. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom hoping to lose weight, a first responder preparing to save lives, or a competitive athlete looking to dominate your sport, I’m willing to work with you to achieve your goals.I have two basic goals for my athletes: enjoy your workout and learn to push yourself beyond what your mind thinks is possible.

I started out my career in fitness as a figure skating coach, after having skated competitively for 10+ years. I trained figure skaters of all levels both on and off the ice to improve their overall athletic performance. After coaching for a couple of years, I knew I was looking for something more! 🙂
In 2014 I began my education at St. Clair College through the Fitness and Health Promotion program. This two-year personal training program gave me a well-rounded knowledge base in many aspects of human performance – including but not limited to human kinetics, specialized training, senior fitness, muscular assessments, mobility and rehabilitation, athlete programming and more. Upon graduating with a 4.0 GPA, I was certified through the Ontario Fitness Council as a personal trainer and resistance training specialist. Immediately following graduation, I earned my CrossFit Level 1 certificate and began coaching at Windsor CrossFit 🙂 This place has quickly become my home away from home.
Coaching at Windsor CrossFit is my passion in life. I take pride in my classes, clients and programs and I am always looking to expand my knowledge base and help the athletes in this gym in as many ways as possible. Fitness is beyond important, and it has the incredible capacity to change your life. And I am extremely lucky to work somewhere where I can contribute to that. #WindsorStrong

Neil’s passion for fitness began back in 2006. Neil always struggled with weight and fitness growing up; he was the kid last to finish the race, could do the least amount of push-ups and was not the most coordinated individual. It was in 2006 when Neil left and went to Texas A and M University for the very sought out Firefighter Academy. It was there that he made the decision to change his life and where he found his passion for fitness.

In 2011 Neil began his career as a personal trainer, with his passion for fitness and strong desire to help people that where in his similar situation Neil found something that truly makes him happy and that he loves doing. Neil has worked with people from all walks of life from the ages of 13 to 75 and everything in between.  Neil grew bored with the typical chest or legs day and even though making some gains felt as though there was something missing and he could still improve his overall fitness.

Then one July while injured and unable to perform a fellow co-worker (Tang) introduced him to CrossFit and he never looked back. He began reading and learning as much as he could, taking course and certifications whenever possible.

Neil has a strong understanding of the CrossFit principles. Not only does he apply them to his programming, but he also applies them to his everyday life. Neil enjoys helping members build strength, power and speed. He believes that if his athletes focus on the correct mechanics and proper intensity that they will, without a doubt, succeed in becoming stronger, faster and more powerful.

He is very proud to be part of the WCF team and looks forward to helping anyone reach their goals.

From 13 years of ballet, to playing 2 years on the high school boy’s football team, to playing varsity women’s rugby for Brock University, I can easily say that I have been an athlete my entire life. Since ending my rugby career, I needed something to satisfy my competitive spirit. While working at a traditional ‘globo’ gym in 2013, I was asked to give CrossFit a try. After a 20 minute, modified ‘Cindy’ WOD, I was left huffing and puffing on the ground and my former idea of what it was to be ‘fit’ was in shambles…..I was instantly hooked.

I became a certified CrossFit trainer in 2013 and have been a coach for over two years now. I believe that every person, regardless of their age, needs to train. Exercise has the potential to be more than just something that you squeeze into your schedule a few times a week. It can be your escape – therapy so to speak, it can be fun – plain and simple, it can also help high-level athletes finally reach their true fitness potential. For most, it is a way to improve their overall health and well being. Finding the right balance as well as a supportive environment are vital to your success. At Windsor CrossFit, all of these members; all shapes, sizes and ages, from competitive to retired – they all train in the same class side by side. That is what sets us above all of the other fitness facilities and programs out there. Doing the common, uncommonly well, exercise can be whatever you want it to be, as long as you’re doing it for YOU.

I came to Windsor CrossFit to work with the best of the best. I wanted to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a coach. What I have found is a community full of truly amazing people who inspire me every day and you can too.

CrossFit kicked my ass the initial time and very well has every time since.  The first workout, a modified Fran, left me sore for days but craving more.  Take a moment now to Google search Fran CrossFit workout and notice how easy it reads on paper, but not until you have completed it, or attempted it, will you be humbled and wanting more.  This is the essence of CrossFit and really what drove me.

The one aspect of CrossFit is that you can do it almost anywhere.  Starting out in a friend’s garage and then moving to my own glorified garage, a shed, I progressed as best as I could. Attending the Level 1 Trainer Seminar helped me learn and teach the fundamentals and theory behind new and functional movements.  The pounds quickly came off, the muscle built up and just as I was getting ready to insulate the shed for winter, Windsor CrossFit opened up.  Being among the first members has privileged me to see our community grow and expand into something truly amazing and addicting, in the best way possible.

Sports medicine is an obvious interest to me as my main focus of study is genetics and generally biology.  I attended the University of Western Ontario for genetics. I finished my undergrad here at the University of Windsor; currently I am writing my masters.  Pursuing a career in medicine has helped me understand how the body works and what macromolecules are required from our nutrition for our body to function correctly.  Nutrition in any physical fitness program should be the largest part of your goals and I have studied all aspects of it for many years.  Whether you’re adhering to the paleo or zone diet, I have your answers.  Helping people is an innate quality of mine.  I will never turn down anyone looking for a little extra help with a movement or maybe a push during your first Fran

I am currently in my final year of undergrad in the Concurrent Biology Program with one year of Teacher’s College to follow. As an individual, I have always been self-driven, motivated, and organized (probably too much). The program I am in has always leaned me towards working/volunteering with children and teens and I have even worked with some amazing nonprofit organizations such as the Windsor Jewish Community Centre as the Camp Director. Although my passion is teaching and working with youth, I have always wanted to pursue a lifestyle with fitness of some sort but have never allowed myself the time (or let’s be honest, energy) to do so. CrossFit has definitely changed that for me and reminded me that taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of the people around you!”

When I first started CrossFit (many years ago), we would write our names and WOD times down on a white board. I quickly noticed that I was not the only “Kyle” at the box. Due to my competitive nature and drive to always want to stand out from the pack, I decided to go by my middle name “Kenny.” The nickname stuck and became my CrossFit alter ego. Let there be no confusion, I am the ONLY Kenny.

Athletics have always been a big part of my life. From a young age, I started playing competitive sports. My biggest interests were football and track. I lead  the Sandwich Sabres to a championship and was awarded the Newman Division All City Player Award twice.  After high school, I studied Firefighting in hopes of one day pursuing my dreams of becoming a Firefighter (which I’m still actively working towards). After Graduating from Oakland Fire Academy in Rochester Hills Michigan, I attended St.Clair College for the Electrical Apprentice program. Throughout all my studies, I was always dedicated to fitness.  It is no surprise that after discovering the world of CrossFit I was immediately hooked. After doing some research, I found Windsor CrossFit. Dan, Lauren and the entire CrossFit family opened the gym doors and allowed me to embark on a new and exciting lifestyle.  Let’s just say it is now my second home 😉

After completing my Level 1 in September of 2014, I began to see CrossFit in a new way and also began to have greater respect for the Coaching aspect. We have great members and a very strong Crossfit community here at Windsor CrossFit. I’m not just helping members, they are helping me to become a better coach and strive to be a better all around athlete and person everyday.

I became involved in horse back riding and everything associated with it since a very young age. I really enjoyed the farm work that came with the responsibility of owning a horse (mainly because it allowed me to sneak in any extra riding time). Stacking hay and hauling water buckets helped me built a strong body and mind early in life.

In high school, Gym and Art classes were my main interests and I chose to pursue Graphic Design Post Secondary. After a year in that program, I determined that it wasn’t the right fit and I started working at Lowe’s in the Garden Center.  During the summers at Lowe’s, the outside seasonal employees worked non-stop loading bricks, sheds and fencing, we all were in great shape at the end of the season.  As a result of this, I became more interested in exercising and the aspects of fitness. The Health and Fitness Program at St. Clair College was introduced in September 2014. I instantly applied to the program and soon after joined Windsor CrossFit (WCF). I knew that becoming a WCF Member would teach me various aspects of fitness related to the real world. I also knew that their Coaches and methodology would also offer different aspects of fitness that would not and could  not be taught in school.

My intentions were to join for 3 months before I started the Health and Fitness program. After the first month, there was so much to learn from everyone at Windsor CrossFit that three months wouldn’t be enough. I started Fitness and Health in September 2015 and soon after, I learned we needed to do a placement at the fitness center of our choice. I inquired to Dan and Lauren about Windsor CrossFit being my choice location to complete my internship. I started in the January semester of 2016 and I have learned more from WCF than I can put into words. I am very optimistic and eager to begin my career in the fitness industry and plan to get my Level 1 CrossFit Certification, and Fascial Stretch Therapy Certification.

A number of years ago while completing research on ACL rehabilitation, Josh ironically tore his ACL.  After his reconstructive surgery he was looking for a way to regain the power and strength lost in the process. This is when he discovered Crossfit and became instantly addicted to the intensity, skill, and technique involved.  Josh now use many of the same foundational movements used in Crossfit to help treat and rehabilitate movement disorders, pain, and injuries.

I’ve been indirectly providing therapy to all Windsor CrossFit members since February 2015. That’s right, since the fresh age of two months old I’ve been putting smiles on peoples faces and warmth in their hearts.

There are several methods of treatment that I imply…depending on the client. A majority seek great satisfaction and joy simply by rubbing my belly, while others require several moist kisses to make them feel at peace after their WOD.
Not only do I provide Therapy, but I also assist heavily in the administrative department. Keeping tabs on reception is my primary job. I stay energetic and happy by taking naps in between client interactions… but I’m always quick to pop up to say hello anytime I hear someone come through the door!
Staying active is something that I value greatly. After growing up at the box and being around so many cool and fit individuals, I couldn’t help but start a CrossFit career of my very own. I recently hold the record of highest box jump for an infant under the age of one (42″ Box Jump). Box jumps are my favourite. I also love running 10K’s with my mama and aggressively chasing after my ball! Wrestling with other friendly and vaccinated puppy dogs that come to the box is the bees knees! I can wrestle and play for hours. It’s my favourite thing (besides eating) in the entire world.
When you’re ready to come check out Windsor CrossFit, chances are I’ll be there to greet you with a smile and a sniff. If you need to talk I’m a great listener (my ears a HUGE if you haven’t noticed)…If you need some pawsitive motivation…I’ll be there to bark at you nonstop! 🙂

I joined the Windsor CrossFit team shortly after my older sister Remy. I saw how happy she was there bringing smiles and laughs to all the members, and I knew I wanted to do the same! Now, we both spend most of our time at the box, and we spread joy in our own unique ways.

Boy, Windsor CrossFit is a busy place! I spend most of my time with momma and Remy, doing administrative work for the box. I make sure she stays on task by giving her the occasional nose-nudge and keep her happy with my cuddly-ways! We take breaks together and play fetch – and I usually beat Remy to the ball 😉 But don’t tell her I said that! I also like playing with my other dog friends who visit the box from time to time. Together we stay occupied while our parents workout, and we cheer them on the whole way! 🙂

If you ever need a laugh, a wrestle, or some serious play-time… I am your pup! I enjoy nothing better than spending time with everyone who comes through the door. And don’t worry – I never bite! J I am the friendliest puppy you could meet. If you ever stop by, be sure to look over the front desk – you may just see my sister and I waiting to say hello! 🙂
